My Trip to see the Stars

When I was younger my mom took me to a high powered telescope to see the Sun and its sun spots. Once we got there I did not get a chance to see the Sun early in the morning because I wanted to look at the sun during sun rise without a telescope,  so we waited until later that day to see it . It was magnificent I could see some of the sun spots and a solar prominence. Later that night we went to see the moon in the night sky, but we didn’t see a solar flare. The instructor said that the Sun and other stars are measured with the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram. The Sun is not the only star in the milky way galaxy there are many more but the biggest is Betelgeuse (a red giant) . The guy that worked there told me there are eight different phases the moon goes through: new moon, full moon, first quarter, third quarter, waning gibbous , waning crescent , waxing gibbous ,and waxing crescent.  i checked the calendar and realized that tonight was going to be a blue moon, a second full moon in a month. I thought that it was the first one ever I got so excited that I wanted to scream then the clerk said no it is not common but it has happened before that really destroyed my thoughts of screaming and I was really sad for the rest of the day. Until I got to see the northern lights I was ecstatic and I figured it happened before so I was not as excited as I was about the blue moon. Although I was happy I really did want to come back and see the sun tomorrow before they close down the astronomy building, but my mom refused to bring me back.
